In Myanmar, New-Rule Senior Advisor Robert Lochary conducted capacity development assessments of the Office of the Supreme Court of the Union and the Union Attorney General’s Office training departments as part of a UNDP/IDLO program to build the capacity of key justice sector institutions and develop training for judges and law officers in furtherance of Myanmar’s democratic transition. Mr. Lochary’s recommendations focused on enhancing the knowledge, skills and abilities of judges and law officers to implement domestic and international fair trial procedures and judicial ethics, and will be used as the basis for ongoing reform efforts in both institutions.
